Missions
The mission work of Seaford Baptist Church is overseen by the pastors and the Mission Leadership Team. The Mission Leadership Team exists to help Seaford Baptist spread the Gospel locally, nationally and globally (Acts 1:8). Furthermore, the Mission Leadership Team provides support the church's career missionaries, supports short-term mission initiatives and plans and supports the mission activities of the church.
While Seaford Baptist weekly supports North American and international mission work through our giving to the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program, these are other areas in which we are involved:
LOCAL MISSIONS
Homeless Outreach Ministry: A mission team that networks with local organizations and other local churches to provide a hands-on ministry to the homeless in Hampton Roads.
Life Matters Ministry: LM2 partners with Carenet Pregnancy Center in order to help protect the lives of the unborn, as well as providing help to young mothers.
Peninsula Rescue Mission: In connection with our Homeless Outreach Ministry, various ministries of our church, including Sunday School and GAP, support the Peninsula Rescue Mission by serving there regularly.
Colonial Harbor: Each Sunday, Seaford Baptist Church sends a ministry team to conduct a worship service at Colonial Harbor, a local retirement community.
Good News Club: Seaford Baptist supports Child Evangelism Fellowship by sponsoring an after school Bible club at Seaford Elementary School.
NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONS
DC Church Planting: Seaford Baptist is actively involved in supporting the North American Mission Board's efforts to plant churches in the Washington DC Metro area.
Disaster Relief: The church have several members trained by the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia to provide relief to those who find themselves victims of disasters in Virginia, the United States and around the world.
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS
Orphan Helpers: Seaford Baptist Church partners with the mission organization, Orphan Helpers, to reach incarcerated juveniles and orphans in Honduras and El Salvador.
CAREER MISSIONARIES
Evelyn Biles: A missionary of Global Mosaic International who works primarily in East Asian countries. She serves to provide education and training in counseling, mentoring, conflict resolution, and leadership to the global Christian church.
Terry and Liz Tyrell: Missionaries of CRU Military Ministry who work in Great Britain. They work with the U.S. military chaplains in seeking to meet the spiritual needs or our military personnel and families overseas.
Sergei and Sveta Vashkevich: CRU missionaries serving in Minsk, Belarus, in many capacities, including marriage conferences, orphanage outreach, and work with churches both inside and outside of Belarus.
Melody Warford: Melody does various media support for missionaries, ministries and churches around the world. Her ministry is called Stone Soup Media and her work has taken her to many different countries.
